How to capture great speaker clips at your event

Great speaker clips require a dedicated close-up camera on each speaker, clean audio from a lapel or podium mic, and a post-production edit that opens with the strongest 10 seconds of each talk.

Quick answer
  • Brief speakers in advance: tell them you are filming and ask for a strong opening line
  • Dedicated close-up camera per speaker — do not cut from the main camera only
  • Clean audio: lapel mic or direct from the podium feed, not a boom from the back
  • Edit each clip to open with the strongest moment, not the introduction
  • Aim for 3–5 minutes per speaker — long enough for depth, short enough to share
